There are several companies that make a variety of detectors, transmitters and receivers that are suitable for deaf or hard of hearing people to safely use. The actual equipment and cost will depend on how far away you are situated from the smoke and/or CO detector, the type of alert desired and in how many rooms the alert needs to occur. For devices that transmit to a receiver, the maximum distance between the transmitter and receiver is typically 100 feet, but this will vary depending on the environment. It is also very important to keep in mind that whenever a smoke or carbon monoxide detector is tested, any associated alerting equipment must be tested as well.
