Hearing Aid Charms Designed by 12-Year-Old Hayleigh Scott

This is a great story and we’re delighted to tell it.

Several months ago we received an e-mail addressed to our CEO, Irwin Schneidmill. It was written by 11-year-old Hayleigh Scott (she's now 12 years old). In her e-mail she related how she is hearing impaired and that when she was little she attended a school for hearing impaired children. She noticed that a lot of her classmates tried to hide their hearing aids behind their hair. She said, “But I wanted to make my hearing aids shine and be fancy and proud of my hearing aids!”

So Hayleigh started to draw pictures showing how she could make her hearing aids look beautiful. She turned her designs into charms that she hung from her over-the-ear hearing aids and wore to school. Soon her classmates (both girls and boys!) – and their parents – were begging Hayleigh to design hearing aid charms for them too. An entrepreneur was born!

Hayleigh ended her e-mail to our CEO by asking, “Would you like to partner with me and bring my hearing aid charms to your customers?”

We smiled and asked Hayleigh to send us some of her designs. Once we saw them, we were thrilled! We jumped at the chance to work with this lovely young lady.
